T-1 "Let's Didgeridoo This" Australia 2011

Life can be full of "maybes". Maybe one day, Terrible One will be in the dictionary. Paper dictionaries are already a thing of the past, so our chances might be a lot better. That's a weird thought . . . however, if that were the case, this would be a fitting entry for T-1. For us, it's always been about the journey and all that comes with it. The good people you have next to you, all of the folk that we've crossed paths with along the way. Australia: April 2011. Enjoy :)

RIP Roscoe

I know Roscoe had a lot of friends out there so I'll let everyone know. He unexpectedly passed today due to massive amounts of cancer throughout his abdomen and lungs. Seeing him go was one of the hardest things I've ever had to deal with in my lucky little life.

What other dog was on a BMX team, had a video part, did tours in the Props and Etnies buses, was in all the mags and had a signature shoe!"

...and we went out and shot with it. This is the only trick that was pulled on camera. Most of them are of me doing tricks I didn't land. So, we're halfway there.

The lonely nights.

The lonely nights in the 1 bedroom apartment often bring about the searches for decent new BMX videos. A slight masochist you might call me. Since I can’t ride till God knows when, the BMX videos only bring about a want to stay afloat in the torrent of videos, streaming from sites like thecomeup and defgrip.

Sabado Gigante

There was this TV show, I think it still runs, I used to sneak in on Saturdays called "Sabado Gigante." It was some crazy music/game show on one of the Spanish channels that featured, among other things, hot latina chicks dancing in bikinis.

Yeah. Anyway, this Saturday you probably shouldn't be sitting around watching bronzed, bikini-clad boricuas on Telemundo because there is enough BMX in a 40-mile radius to fill your time.

First, San Antonio has the 2010 James Jam. I think it starts around noon in the Harry Wurzbach ditch. Peep the flyer here http://theyaintready.wordpress.com/2010/07/01/james-jam-update/ (NSFW. Don't say I didn't warn you.)

Second, The Ultimate Male is throwing an impromptu screening of the new United flick, "This is United," at the T1 ramp in Austin. The video starts when the lights go down around 9:00, but you are invited to ride the ramp before. Flyer below.

So, start your day at 10:00 AM with some Coronas and breakfast tacos down in San Antonio. Jam at 12:00 noon. Bounce out at around 4:30 PM to get to Austin before 6:00 PM. Ride the T1 ramp, chill with bros, and peep the United vid. Then stroll West down 6th for some cocktails. Fuck yeah.

Sometime in 2006, I had a grandiose vision for the site. DirtySouthBMX started as a way to share stories about BMX in Texas and grew into somewhat of a social hub for Texas BMX. It was tearing at the seams, destined to stretch out farther and farther across the South.

Nothing gets me going quite like some solid local coverage (and thisis69.com). This month, DIG #71 brings us Tody Cardona on the cover, getting way too high and steezy at the famous red brick curved walls in Austin.

So, I hopped into my 'chiny' red convertible at 9 in the AM this morning and made my way out toward the sticks with a bag full of golf clubs to whack some balls around at a little dive called Lee's Par 3. There's a brand-new road in town that goes straight there. New roads equal new ditches, and I knew this stretch would be offering a few. So, the bike came along, too.

    The Taj Stable History

In what might be the best BMX blog post of 2008 (not a difficult feat), Taj Mihelich runs through many of the bikes he has mounted during his early life and storied career.

The RideBMX.com blog post includes photos, descriptions and mini-anecdotes that take you through Taj's early days, his various sponsorships, his time at Terrible One, and up to today.

“Later when Linn Kastan built T-1’s for a short while I got so pissed at him over some production issues that I jumped in my car and drove 24 hours straight to California to confront him. He called me a boy who didn’t even know what chromoly was and refused to meet me in person.”

    Austin's Happening

Bunch of Austin-related shit for your week:

Mutiny's 'What the F' web vid

"So here's the deal, Josh Bedford set out to 6th St. here in Austin to do some partying just like any other party night AKA every night! The idea was to film some riding on the way to the bar, get hammered and get some loose footage! Then Whamo! Here you have the "What The F" Mutiny Bar video. This might become a series, let us know if you want to see more. Watch different team guys as they come to town and see what they do when it's just time to get loose."

    Please! Make it a series.

Dave Parrick working on new Empire video

Apparently Dave was sick of bike videos after Etnies Forward. Upon moving his family to Austin and working a boring job, he caught the itch and is collaborating with Tina and Tom on the new empire video, so says Issue 67 of DIG.

Get the issue and read the interview. Sounds like Dave's going for something new. Something different. Sooner or later a trailer with mostly empire mini-ramp riding will be available online. Video slated for Summer 09.
